Our Parish Family
Founded in 1863, Sacred Hearts Parish
strives to model our parish life and activities in the love of
our Lord and our Blessed Mother. Our Lord's heart, crowned with
thorns, reminds us of the deep love that He showed to every human
person by giving His life for the sake of our salvation. Our
Blessed Mother's heart was pierced with a sword in knowing what
her Son must endure, but she gives us hope and promises us that
she and her Son will never abandon those who love God with all
their heart, soul and strength. It is in this hope and love that
we come together to celebrate the Sacraments and bring the love
of Christ's Church to our Sun Prairie community.
Our parish of
1,423 families owns and operates Sacred Hearts School. Founded
to first and foremost ensure that the teachings of the Church
are passed down to future generations, Sacred Hearts School currently
enrolls approximately 475 students. Our children are the future
of the Church, and Sacred Hearts Parish believes that providing
a solid educational and spiritual program for its students is
an important role.
Our Christian
Formation program ministers to more than 800 students in elementary
and secondary education. The program begins by providing a sound
background for our beginning students with basic, catechetical
instruction. Once the student has a good understanding of the
fundamentals of the faith, the remaining years are spent strengthening
and enriching that faith in many different ways. The capstone
of our catechesis is our Confirmation program, which prepares
our high school juniors for full membership in the Church. Forty-one
students participated in the program in 2008.
Our pastoral
staff is committed to the sick and the homebound as well. The
pastoral staff make regular visits to area nursing homes, care
centers and hospitals, providing the Sacraments to those who
are not physically able to be present with us at Mass.
Christ is present
in all people and in all things. Through prayer, catechesis,
formation, the holy Mass and spiritual renewal, our parish carries
on the mission of the Church to proclaim the Gospel to all nations. |
