The Parish and Community Concerns Commission carries forward the vision of Jesus by developing and coordinating social needs and human concerns programs designed to translate Christian values and teachings into reality.

The main goal of this committee is to bring awareness and education to parish members regarding all life issues, from conception to death, through various activities, charities and events.  This committee is dedicated to providing and updating the parish on public policy related to life issues.  Some other activities include:   In October (Respect Life Month), a St. Gerard Baby Shower is held, where playpens are positioned in church for collecting new or gently used baby clothing, blankets, diapers, formula and other baby items which are then donated to the Pregnancy Helpline.  In addition, a Memorial Mass is held in November to remember and honor parishioners and their family members who have passed away during the previous year.  Food and other items are frequently collected for the Sun Prairie Food Pantry.  Finally, Project Rosebud (see the back of church by the elevator) is an ongoing program offered at Sacred Hearts where parishioners identify, pray and support those who are pregnant, desiring pregnancy or adoption, celebrating birth or adoption, grieving miscarriage, abortion, stillborn, infant or child death.  Please call the parish center at 837-8509 if interested in joining the Respect for Life committee.
